How The HALO Bassinest Saved my Life: REVIEW+GIVEAWAY

Hello world,
Today's post is one that I am sharing with hopes to help all moms-to-be or new moms out there, especially wheelchair users.

When we found out we were pregnant, I immediately went on the search for baby gadgets and things to use that would help me be the best functional mom there could be for my baby. As you guys know, I make use of a wheelchair for daily living due to spinal cord injury.

The thought of using the traditional crib for our baby during her first months made me very anxious and I just prayed that there was a better way to have baby near me at night. As you all know, babies wake up frequently at night during the first few months, and as a wheelchair mom, I knew there just had to be a better way to have baby close to me without having her on our bed. I wanted my baby close to me, but also in her own space.

Many late night internet searches later, I found out about the HALO® Bassinest®. Everything I read about it proved to me that it would be the best choice for me. I was also glad that this meant I wouldn't have to do multiple transfers unto the wheelchair at night time just to get to my baby! It was a win for me.

Well, my baby is now well over 3 months old, and I can finally share with you all that this is one of the best things we got as first time parents.
The HALO® Bassinest® Premier Series Swivel Sleeper has everything I love as a mom and my baby has spent every night since her birth in it. I love the breathable mesh design which is also a great gateway for baby to see that you are nearby whenever they wake up.

The side of the bassinest leans down and allows you to easily put baby in or bring baby out. The Base is very sturdy and the height can be adjusted. The mattress it comes with is also soft.

This also has Nightlight, Vibration/Soothing sounds/Lullabies and a Nursing timer. I will be honest and tell you that these features no longer get used as often but they sure were fun to explore in the first few weeks of being a new mom.  I also love the side pockets because it allows for easy access to things I use very frequently with my baby, like her diapers, wipes and butt cream.

Additionally, we got the HALOSleep SleepSack swaddle and it's one of our faves. It's an easy swaddler that allows for the option of putting baby's hands inside of out of it. As my baby got older, she didn't like her hands being swaddled inside of it.

Needless to say, I am very happy with the HALO® Bassinest® Premier Series Swivel Sleeper and Sleepsack swaddle.
That is why I will be giving these two to one lucky winner in partnership with HALOSleep.

The Best Baby Documentation Book: The Short Years

Hello World!
Time is flying and I just can't believe it. It feels just like yesterday when I shared with you that we had a baby girl, and today she's 3 months old. As you can imagine, I am always taking photos and capturing every moment because it's true that they grow too fast. Before I had little miss Zuri, I had great plans to document her entire life... ok not really... lol, but I certainly planned to document all the "firsts" she would have.

As TheDIYLady, I had plans to get into scrap-booking, print all the photos I take of her and create a baby book. Well, one month after she was born, I realized that doing ALL THAT was more work than I could imagine. Having a newborn baby certainly leaves no room for much DIY so I started having mom guilt because I could not document everything about my little girl like I wanted to.

Anyhoo, fast forward to one great night while I was browsing through Instagram; I saw an ad for a baby book called The Short Years and I was instantly intrigued because the app said one could create an entire baby book on their app. The more I read about the app, the more it looked like exactly what I needed! I said to myself, wait a minute... does this mean I won't have to print, cut, or glue photos to a traditional baby book?

Needless to say, I knew I had found the perfect way to save memories from my baby's first year.

I actually cried when the book arrived and I was looking through it all. It is such a sleek and modern design. Gender neutral look and would make for a perfect coffee table decor.
The entire book is created and ordered on an app. The app was very easy to use and it is quite detailed. You are asked to answer questions you'll want to document for and about your baby (I have no doubt a mom created this app.. Lol).

You also don't have to wait till your baby turns one to order the book - which is why I was able to order my book and get the first few chapters I have been able to fill in. As you complete 3 or more chapters, you can request for those pages to be sent to you and you add the pages to your book.

There are extra pages for photos. You can also see what the pages in the book will look like before sending your pages in to order - I love this feature very much.

I should stop rambling and just say get the app if you really care about documenting your baby's first year and even some moments before baby's arrival - like the baby shower, maternity photos, first ultrasound etc. I can't wait to see what my book looks like at the end of it all. So far, I am impressed with the chapters I have completed and love the beauty the book is turning into.

I was able to maximize photo space by creating collages and then uploading them on the app as one photo. The print quality on all the pictures are GREAT! The app tells you how your photos fit in the book.

Everything is seriously QUALITY.

The app can be found in the Android Play Store of apple App Store.

Let me know what your thoughts are! How did you document your baby's firsts?

BIRTH VLOG: Baby Delivery After Spinal Cord Injury

Hello World,

Hi world. Today's post is a very emotional one for me. I want to share with you all our very emotional, raw Birth Vlog.

I am excited to share this with you all... firstly because we are so blessed with the successful and joyous birth of our daughter, and secondly because I personally wanted to share this experience with "somebody" out there.

As most of you know, I had a car accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury.
When I was pregnant and started to prepare for the birth of our daughter, I searched through the internet for videos of somebody I could fully relate to who posted their birth vlog and found NONE.

While there were many birth Vlogs I enjoyed watching all over the place, I found pretty quickly that I couldn't relate to most of the moms or their experiences. As I've shared with you guys during my pregnancy journey, my doctor is AMAZING and she gave me the peace of mind I needed throughout my pregnancy journey. Her wealth of knowledge coupled with my husbands support, our combined faith and God's grace made pregnancy and childbirth a wonderful experience for me despite my diagnosis of spinal cord injury.

I am truly glad we were able to document this experience.
I hope this video gives somebody out there HOPE, and strengthens your faith that with God, all things are possible.

Enjoy Watching below.

Please don't forget to subscribe to my youtube channel HERE
I will be sharing more detailed information about my pregnancy, delivery and all things baby on there.
Take care,
God Bless.
