First Vlog as a Married Woman - Thanksgiving Weekend Vlog #3

Hello world,

Have I formally introduced myself to you all as a married woman yet? Forgive me please, it skipped my mind while I was too busy being married. LOL..

Ok ok, I'm not crazy, I'm still the same old Lizzy but I thought that intro would amuse you guys.

Anyhooooooo, if you don't know by now, yes I (we) are married and it's been an interesting time to say the least! God truly showed up during our wedding and I'd love to thank all of our vendors listed IN THIS POST once again for delivering impeccably! Our families and loved ones, you are all so very much appreciated. I most certainly still have to blog about wedding stuff but I'm still soaking up in the joys of being a newlywed with the most amazing man ever!

Along with my husband came his family - all of whom I love so very much and I was glad to have celebrated our first thanksgiving as a married couple with some of them.

Since thanksgiving break was a 4 day weekend and we had quite a few things planned - from shopping for furniture to hanging out with my bestie, church and some other things - I challenged myself to making another vlog and it was a success!

I would like to use this moment to thank everyone of you out there who have congratulated me and said so many kind things about our surprisingly much publicized wedding. It is all still beyond me, but all the glory goes to God. Our Hashtag #Amizzy2016 will fill you in if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks to everyone who celebrated along with us. May your reasons for celebration never end in Jesus name.

I have so much to say and plenty to share with you guys (yes, pictures too for those asking), but that will be another post entirely because this one is about my first vlog as a married woman! ;)...

Please do enjoy the youtube video below.

Don't forget to subscribe to my channel because I've realize that this vlogging thing isn't as hard as it used to seem... I hope to do better with updating you guys and hopefully answer some of the many questions that fill up my inbox every day.

P.S: Grab a cup of your favorite drink and popcorn cos this is quite long (as requested by my snapchat fam!). The majority voted for ONE LONG video as opposed to multiple short ones. Also, what would your preference be for future reference? Let me know in the comment section.

P.P.S: The necklace I wore with the map of Nigeria in my vlog is from: - They are a great store for an amazing cause and proceeds go towards charity! You should absolutely check them out. I got tons of remarks on the necklace.

My Bridal Shower: Vlog#2 and Pictures

Hello Lovers!

It was my bridal shower two Saturdays ago and it was literally one of the most exciting times I've had in a while! I'm doing my best to update you guys with a few things about this wedding season, and I hope you understand when I say it's been a busy season! Follow our hashtag #Amizzy2016 for more updates.

I have few pictures to share with you all from the shower and I am also going to be chatting a bit in this post, so buckle up and enjoy! I also vlogged about this day, so watch the video at the end.

My Maid Of Honor and Bridesmaids planned the event and it was everything I wanted and more. I am so happy and blessed by everyone that showed up with their smiles, love and gifts.

Lots of you guys have seen pictures from the shower on instagram and snapchat and the most popular question has been: Was it a Surprise Bridal Shower Lizzy?

Well, the simple answer is Yes and No.
Hahaha, see it was somewhat of a surprise shower. I didn't know the details and what to expect on the day of, but the week of the shower, I was officially told the date and time to show up, so that I could get ready for it in True Lizzy Fashion.

And Boy was I ready??!!?! Hahaha

I arrived at the venue beaming from ear to ear! By the way, the venue (Grace Banquet Hall) was amazing! It was a fully wheelchair accessible hall in Dallas Texas!!! It was very spacious, had no rugs (pushing a wheelchair on rugs can be tedious), and I heard the owner is very hands on and provides everything one needs to have a great event there. I'm so glad that my MOH chose the place for the shower.

My makeup was flawlessly done by @AmberFritzHair

My friend and one of my bridesmaids - Tope of Re-flect Photography - took amazing pictures and here are some details from the day that I loved so very much!
Customized balloons with my name on them!

Yummy deserts were made by @moes_desserts

Everything tasted so good, especially these coconut macaroons.

My Bridesmaids all wore black, and friends were notified to wear all white. :)

I really thanks everyone that came to the bridal shower. Couldn't post every photo taken, but here are a few....

The Instagram picture frame was a BIG HIT! It was made by ME (Hello DIY)!! --- I will blog about it in detail after this whole wedding bruhaha is over! (Please hold me accountable).

I Loved my dress!!!!

And here is the Vlog Below!! Enjoy!!!

That's it for now!
Thank you once again to everyone that made this day a great one for me. It has certainly made me all the more excited for our wedding day!

Till later, God Bless

I Vlogged!! Roll With Me - Vlog#1

Hello Loves.

This past weekend I did something I've always wanted to do and it's also something that has been requested by a few people many times.

The logistics made no sense to me at first, but this past Sunday, I had an event to attend with a few friends, so I seized that opportunity to Vlog and dare I say.. it was challenging!

Vlogging, holding up a camera, and pushing a wheelchair.... do not entirely mix up together. LOL... But with determination and help from some friends, I have what we shall now refer to as my 1st Vlog EVER!

Share your thoughts if you will, Subscribe to my Youtube Channel, and keep  in Touch!

Till Later, God Bless.

Hello Darlings,
It's been a little while I blogged and I'm sure you all understand when I tell you that wedding planning is the only excuse I have for my absence.

Majority of you have asked me countless number of times for our pre-wedding/engagement pictures and it's my joy and pleasure to share them with you.

Styling - Ankara Blazer from Yetunde Sarumi Collection

Hi lovers,

It's a lovely style post on the blog today. Please let's not address the fact that I've been lowkey MIA... or rather, let's address it; I miss you all, but my only excuse is Wedding Planning. Surely, you forgive me since I'm pulling the wedding planning card, right? Hahahaha.

Well, without further ado, I'd love to get to talking about this gorgeous Ankara blazer top I'm wearing in today's style post.

My excitement with this piece was so abundant! I got slightly confused on how to style it because it's such a statement piece on its own that I didn't want to pair it with anything that would distract from it.

Before you ask, yes you can buy this online. It's from the Yetunde Sarumi collection and they have a variety of other gorgeous pieces on the eBoutique! I have my eyes on a few more items from her website that are on my wish list.

This particular blazer jacket top I'm wearing is called the Lizzy Jacket!
Again, before you say it: I KNOWWWWW, It has my name! No wonder this jacket is perfect! I mean, Look at me, I am Lizzy, perfect in all of my ways... but wait... this is not about me.

Yetunde - the creative director and designer has a great eye for details! If you've been following me long enough, you know I love great product packaging, and Yetunde Sarumi delivers!!!

The ankara blazer came in the mail neatly folded.

A Thank You note was added as well as the Yetunde Sarumi Collection business card, which is so cute by the way!

I decided to pair this blazer with a pencil mouth black pants and red pointy toed flat shoes.

I really love the cut and fit and fabric used in making this jacket.

The jacket is cute when worn open as well, but I really love the flare/peplum shape it gives when you clamp the almost none-detectable buttons together.

Once again, if you're interested in this, Please CLICK HERE to get the Lizzy jacket, and also CLICK HERE for more items from the Yetunde Sarumi Collection. There are so many other beautiful products like this Kente Clutch on there.

USE COUPON CODE: TheDIYLady10 to get 10% off the entire store. Ends 5/31

My favorite part about each piece of item from this eBoutique is the Vibrancy and COLORS they create in! Everything is a statement piece that can be styled in numerous ways.
I can wait to style this Lizzy Jacket in another way.

Do You guys love how I styled it here though?
Leave me a comment below.

Thanks for visiting,
Till Later, God Bless.

Jacket sent for review. Opinions are 100% mine.

Our Proposal Video + The Story and Interview in Genevieve Magazine

Hello world!

Going by the title of this post, I know that most of you are only here for one reason and one reason only... but please hold on for a second...

To share our proposal story is to tell you of the goodness of God in our life. This month of February  makes it 7 years of my dating anniversary with Amen (whom I fondly refer to as Le Boo for social media purposes.. lol).  Those of you who know us and have followed my story know that we started dating each other in our teenage years shortly after the car accident.

This is not a post to gush about this man who is lucky to have me in his life... (Oh wait, did you think I was going to say something else?) Hahahah.... You must not know 'bout me.

Ok, I keed I keed! Amen and I are so blessed to have each other and I honestly just cannot thank God enough for how far he has brought us.

As most of you know by now, we're engaged.

After the proposal, I promised that I would share the proposal story, and you some people kept reminding me and asking for the story but life has been happening, and honestly I just preferred telling the story verbally more than I wanted to type it. So I stalled, and stalled and stalled.

Fast forward to about a month after the proposal, I was approached by the lovely people at Genevieve Magazine Nigeria for an interview on Le Boo and I's love life, and more importantly, for the proposal story. The interview was a series of phone conversation and it was also done via skype, so of course this was just the thing I needed because it meant somebody else would be doing the writing while I talk and talk away. lol..

The interview was a success with the beautiful Torera. She made me feel at ease and was so kind and courteous despite our time differences. You can now find the interview in Genevieve's February Issue. Take a look at the cover below.

See, I always wanted to meet RMD (Richard Mofe Damijo), and to be on the cover of this issue with him is beyond AMAZING!
Now of course the haters will say I technically wasn't on the cover with him, but  uhmmm.... Haters gonna hate, and potatoes gonna potate. *side eye emoji*

Anyhoo, in the article that was written in the magazine, I answered some questions regarding dating and disability (the only D word, I'm not fully OK using, but I'm getting better). I can tell you so much more that was discussed in the interview, but what's the fun in that? You'll have to get your copy of the magazine to read more on that! Magazine can be bought physically or through the Genevieve magazine app.

I am however not all evil, so I have decided to share the part on our proposal story with you all today.

As you can read above, the proposal was a surprise to me, and I actually thought I was part of a plan to surprise a friend of mine (Sandra) for HER proposal.  Since I'm a photographer, my best friend (Faith) sought my advice on planning the perfect proposal for Sandra. I had questions but each of my question got answers that left me without suspecting this was fowl play.

Over the course of planning the surprise proposal (that we told our friend would be a photoshoot for her - since she's been begging me for one), I would share details of the secret mission I was to embark on with my now fiance (a.k.a Le Boo). Little did I know that him and Faith and Sandra were in on the whole thing. Le Boo actually advised me on the location for where our "photo shoot/Sandra's supposed proposal" should be at, and I went ahead with his suggestion for the Mandalay Canal. It was the perfect spot for what ended up being MY proposal.

Those who know me know that I live for everything wedding, romance, love and photography. This was my zone, and I was excited to be making a friend's day. I was lowkey jealous of how much work my best friend was putting into another person's proposal, and I even made remarks like "When my own time comes, you better make sure you represent!! All I need is HALF of what you're doing for Sandra".

As I type this, I am remembering once again all the perfect lies the bestie told. LOL...DANG, that girl gave me no clues to work with son!! At a point, I remembered having a tiny inkling that this could very well be my proposal, BUT THE SPEED AND PERFECT DREAM KILLING SKILLS that the bestie possessed was nothing next to my "gut feeling". She point blank told me not to set myself up for failure! Also, everything lined up well enough that I was totally convinced Sandra was getting proposed to.

Honestly, I'm so glad everything went as it did. The proposal was a great moment, and I'm sure those of you still reading this are already tired of reading everything I'm typing... SO without further ado, please click on the video to watch our proposal video.

In case you're curious, the part I started suspecting something was "OFF" in the video, was when Sandra literally acted like it was normal for a guitar player to pop into her photoshoot and start singing about marriage. LOL...In my head I was like "this girl is not normal oo".
You see, I knew my boy CY would be there to sing and play (BTW, Thanks CY, you're going places), so I wasn't phased by his arrival.. however, when Sandra just kept posing for pictures, I started to suspect something wasn't normal. LOL.. Still, I was slow.. and I thought to myself "maybe Sandra is too shocked to react"... then my bestie calls me,  I look towards her and I saw my friend Tope coming towards me with a camera, slowly being followed by Lamar, Cece, and then LE BOO.

Right after seeing Tope, I KNEW THIS WAS MY PROPOSAL and the rest as they say, is history. One of  the best days of my life!

Special thanks to Le Boo for his video editing skills. I love you and you're perfect for me in every way.

Thanks to the bestfriend a girl could ever ask for. I love you! I Honestly am soooo glad that you insisted that you use my other camera for video. BTW y'all, her reasoning was because she didn't want Sandra to suspect why she was tagging along on our "photo shoot". I knew it was for the "Sandra's Proposal", but I remember telling her "Sandra might think this whole shoot is fishy"... but Sandra was such a good actress that her oblivious ways just kept making me giddy and I kept thinking to myself; "SHE HAS NO CLUE, OMG, She'll be so surprised and we'll be here to capture everything on camera for her".

I MUST thank my sisterlove - Tope - for the wonderful pictures!
And also my sugar banana Yemisi, a.k.a Cece, your presence was such a delight! I love you baby girl, and your sound tracks in the video is one of my fave! Hahaha,..
And Lamar, Bro!! It was so great to see your face that day. Your smile, and hugs, and just pure excitement! I am so glad to be a part of the family!!

Big Thanks to Sabrina who made the "Will You Marry Me?" Signs. She put great thought into it and made it as though it was written with nail polish from a polish bottle. I Loved these! And is it weird that I kept the card? Hahaha

Thanks to our family members as well. I'm trying to cover everybody in the THANKS, but let me just say I genuinely love everybody that made this a success and I want to thank you all SOOOO Very much. Yes even those of you who made our proposal picture go sorta-kinda viral! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Honestly, we are so blessed to have each other and I love Amen so very much that the only answer I could yell out when he asked me to marry him was "Of course I will" - right after I asked if my Dad knew that the proposal was happening. LOL....

Thankfully I am TheDIYLady, and they didn't catch my nails looking rough since it was a weekend. BUT the bestie later told me she had plans in case my nails would have needed pampering.
However, can you just imagine if my nails looked a mess though? Hahaha, the nail polish world would take ALL of my cards!

However, I'm still low-key mad my hair looked a mess and I cried like a baby. LOL...

More importantly, A BIG THANK YOU to everyone both in real life and on social media for the love you have shown towards our love. My life has become a testimony and a message and I hope that beyond this "showcase of love", you can see the message I've always tried to pass across to everybody. God is good, life goes on, and God's got you!

Life is not always easy, and I have stories upon stories of how close I have come to GIVING UP, but at the end of the day, God uses somebody, or even speaks to me personally and HE helps me to remember  what his words says in 1st Corinthians 10:13 that:
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

That's it for now y'all.

Sorry, not really sorry if the story is choppy and a little too full of excitement. lol
I do however hope you enjoyed this and hopefully you all stick with me on this journey.

I am sure I'll share more  as we plan this wedding that I HAVE NO IDEA where to begin planning from.

Thank you so very much for coming by.
Till Later, God Bless.
