Nail Art: Making Music with Cheeky CH31

Hello Sugars!!!

Yesterday I made a detailed post/review about Cheeky's Summer 2012 Stamping plates.

Today, I have nail art to show you that I did with CH31.

I chose this plate because I have been on a music "kick" lately.
Being in my church choir and having to learn about music has totally given me a whole new perspective about music.

I'm no where near knowing how to read notes, but I'm getting better and I'll keep learning.
Also, My friend Ore from The Pristine Notion showed me a music mani recently, and I realized I could create one with CH31. :-D

Without further ado... here's my music mani
Music Nail Art

The base color (white) is Essence mini polish and the Stamping is done with Kleancolor -Black.

Here's me holding the plate.

Here's a collage and what I did on my thumb.

I love this plate and how the mani turned out.
I know some of my music friends who would love this.. especially the piano playing ones. :-D

What do y'all think of this?
Share with me.

Till Later, God bless.

Review: Cheeky Summer 2012 Single Stamping Plates (Available for Purchase)

Hello Your Gorgeousness-es,

I shall be reviewing the New Cheeky Summer 2012 stamping plates that are now available for purchase on Cheeky's website.

I was sent the "testing version" of these plates and I reviewed them in THIS POST a while back.
In that review, I stated how much I loved the images on each plate and I also wrote back with some advice to cheeky on what could be done to improve the images.

Well after a long wait, Cheeky finally declared that the plates would be available for purchase and they even showed us images of what we should expect. I blogged about that in THIS POST.

Anyhoos, fast forwarding to now, the plates are LIVE and they are gorgeously packaged!
There are some minor changes in this set available for purchase.

The changes are POSITIVE and I LOVE that Cheeky took advice from bloggers and made sure to please the masses with the stamping plates.

Here's how mine came.
Cheeky sure knows how to make a girl feel special. :-D
Personalized letter and everything. *blushes*. "Our dear Lizzy" it says.. Lol..

Swatches and Review: Pomegranate Nail Lacquer - Cardigan & Curator

Hello Love Muffins...

Today, This Do It Yourself Lady has two polishes by Pomegranate Nail Lacquer to show you guys.

The polishes are called Cardigan and Curator. Both from their Fall 2012 Collection.
Here they are in all their bottled up glory. :-D

First up, I'll start with Cardigan.
Blue/Teal wonderful beauty!
Take a look...
In case you were wondering why it looks like rubber, I'll say right now that it's a jelly polish. The Good opaque kind of Jelly! It's squishy and it's surprising not as SHEER as I thought it would be. What you see here is 2 thick coats (Allow first coat to dry before 2nd coat).

I was tempted to add a third coat but I chose not to since I loved how it looked at 2 coat. It definitely reminds me of a comfortable cardigan.

Next, we have Curator.
This is a black polish, but oh no, it's not your regular black polish. It's packed with silver and gold glitters. Glitz and Glam if you will... :-D
Black Polishes like this make me say "Oh Yes, I Love black".  I believe if you're gonna wear black, might as well make it a very noticeable black.

I'm wearing this as my weekend mani. I love how embedded the gold and silver glitters are in the black. What you see here is three coats.

All swatches are with Topcoat.

My Overall thoughts?
I'll say this up front, this brand is relatively new to me, but I love trying polishes by brands I hadn't previously known about. I've heard some people state this as well, so I know I'm not alone.

The Polishes have regular polish smell and they're not offensive. Each polish came in a 16.5ml bottle.
Application was nice on both polishes but I must now go into details. lol...

When I tried out Cardigan, I immediately had a "OMG, why so sheer" look on my face.
Then I looked closely and found out it was a jelly, and that looked turned into a "OMG, a blue/teal JELLY, MAMA LIKE"!!!! LOL... Honestly, It was as if some lights started shinning in my room, I immediately was happy. I waited for the first coat to dry and applied the second coat effortlessly! Topped it off with a topcoat, and I loved the finished look. So squishy and yummy looking!!

Curator is what I want my black polishes to look like.. NOT plain. I love the glitters in it, and application was very easy. It got opaque in two coats but I Love glitter, so I applied three coats.

I like that this brand not only makes pretty polishes but also have great formulas.

Lastly, Just because I've been getting a kick out of making Collages lately, here are both polishes again. :-D

That's it.

Swatches and Review: Above the Curve - Grapevine

Hello sweets.

I still have my weekend mani on and can't bring myself to clean it off yet. Interestingly, only one finger has a chip on it, the others only show minimal tip wear. WOW. I think I need to find another bottle of that beauty for future uses.

Anyhoo... I was looking through my "Nail Pictures folder" and I found a bunch of manis I hadn't posted on the blog yet.
Amongst them is this pretty polish I bought a while ago from Above the Curve, called Grapevine.

Considering I thought this polish was yummy looking when I wore it, I'm amazed I haven't blogged about it. Without further ado, heeeerrrrreeeee we goooooooooo!!!

As you can see, it's one of the amazing Two in one polishes I love! Glitter and color base in one!
I Love how some Indie makers make glitters that can be layered over any polish, but when I find Indies that get opaque in two coats and combine both colored base and glitters in One, I GET EXCITED!

I Liked this polish for what it was not just because it has purple in it. There's shimmer, glitter, and again, the opacity was a lovely surprise! This is only two coats with no underwear. And a topcoat.

I love that  it's opaque enough not to show a Visible nail line, But yet sheer enough that you can see the glitters in the first layer THROUGH the second layer.
Looks like a yummy almost melting icecream that has a bunch of.... Ok, let me stop... I'm getting hungry now. Lol...

Anyhoo, I am glad I bought this and I have two more polishes by Above the Curve that I hope to show you at a later date.
For now, Check out Above the Curve on Etsy and On Facebook.

HINT: She'll be having a giveaway once her facebook page gets to 300 Likes! :-D

That's it for now darlings, Till later, God Bless.

Picture Spam: Nfu Oh - GS14

Hello Sugars.
Happy Saturday!!!

This post was supposed to be posted on Monday but after swatching this polish on my nails for my weekend mani, I JUST couldn't wait to post it on the blog.
Have you guys ever experienced that awesome moment when a nail polish makes you glad you're a polishaholic??
That moment where you actually ask yourself: What in the world was I doing before I became a polishaholic? Why did I think just a plain black nail polish was FINE? Why did I not know what HOLO was?

Welllpp, I had that moment when I put this polish on my nails. I have to say a big Thank You to the lovely lady in my Birthday Group who got me this polish. THANKS sugar!!!

Bottle Shots anyone?

Yeah, I know what you're thinking.. The same thing I thought when I saw the polish! What the Heck is in there?!?! A bunch of lights??

Yes, Yes I think it's a bunch of lights. Lol... Lookie here...

This is now my favorite black polish. :-D
Never again will I settle for just a regular black nail polish.

WOW. This polish knocked me out and then SOME!!!
Even when the polish is under regular light, you can still see the beauty in it.

For a good one minute after I painted all of my nails. I just stared at my nails in awe. I moved my hands around all the different lights in my room.. from the brightest to the dimmest. Just to see if the polish would retain it's awesomeness. And BOY... Did it retain it or what??!!

I could type and type all the things I said to myself as I was taking pictures of this polish. All the things I planned to say in this post but suddenly don't feel the need to say because I think the pictures do a good job of showing you all the things I thought I needed words to say.

I've seen holos and I've been in awe of them many times before, but this polish has something that I can't explain.... In the dark, I still see flickers of silver shimmer! I've gotta ask NFU Oh what the heck they mixed in the polish... because it's AMAZING!!!

P.S: This picture below is for my Instagram.. Lol.. there's a hashtag going on as #unnecessarilyAwkwardHandPose. (Follow @theDIYLady)

I'm just so glad this polish wasn't sent for review, because if it was, someone might think I'm trying to "sell the product", which is never the case because my opinions are always 100%... sent for review or not.

Oh and LOL.. I Just LOVE the NFU Oh Bottles! :-D

Anyhoos, That's it for now darlings. I took so many pictures and I couldn't even decide which one were worthy of being on the blog. Hopefully the ones I chose show you exactly how gorgeous this polish is.

Nfu Oh GS14, I Love Thee!!! :-)

Collage Anyone?

Till Later, God Bless.

Make Me A Sammich Woman!!!

Hahahaha...
Yes, My Title cracks me up!

Obviously, Today's post is of a Jelly Sandwich I made... Polish Jelly Sandwich that is.

This is the First Jelly Sandwich that I will be showing you on the blog, so it's kind of a big deal... :-P
I've made jelly sandwiches before, but for testing purposes, not blogging.

This mani was my weekend mani, and I was so pleased with it.

I present to you, My Jelly Sandwich.

I made this by applying two coats of China Glaze - Ride the waves, one coat/dabbing of Kleancolor - Starry blue, and one final coat of Ride the waves. I allowed each coat to dry a bit before applying the next.

If you follow me on Instagram @thediylady, I'm sure you saw this sneak peek picture I posted on there. :-)

I LOVE how my phone captured the true color of Ride the waves, and how the glitters are really embedded in the sandwich.

P.S: If my future husband ever tells me "Make me a sammich Woman", I'd like to mention that THIS mani or something like it, is what I SHALL RECREATE!! buhahahahahahahhahah...

Jelly Sandwiches are so fun to create. And I truly love how the glitter peeks through! Ahhhh, yummy!

And I must also mention that Ride the waves is such a pretty blue polish!! Gorgeous blue polish!!!

That's it for now darlings.
Till Later, God Bless.

Swatches and Review: Rainbow Polish - Busted Pinata

Hello Sugars!

Happy Thursday to you all...
Today I've got a glitter bomb to show you all, and this polish is appropriately named Busted Pinata.  It's by Rainbow Polish.

Here's a Bottle Shot for you all...

And Here are swatches.

Busted Pinata is a mixture of hex and square glitters in blue, yellow, purple, coral, white, grey, orange, and... and... silver micro glitters.
I chose to layer one thick coat of this polish over 2 coats of Zoya - Eevie.

I was glad I didn't layer it over black as I initially thought, because they gray base really allowed the colors in Busted Pinata to shine..

Look at this close up picture...  It looks to me like a Pinata really busted on dry cement. LOL..

Rainbow Polish packaged this polish with some extra details that I must now mention.
Everything was so professional and I really liked that.
My polish came with a business card that included the Ingredients in the Polish. Awesome!

Overall thoughts about this polish.
Application: All I needed was one coat for this layering I did. The glitters came out on their own and I didn't have to "fish them out".
The smell isn't offensive, and I really like that the name really fits the polish. :-)

If you're interested in this polish, CLICK HERE to go directly to the link on Rainbow Polish's etsy shop.
Check out other Polishes by Rainbow Polish HERE.

That's it for now sugars.
Till Later, God bless.

This was sent for review. Opinions are 100% mine.

Swatches and Review: Butter London - Dodgy Barnett, Trustafarian & Lovely Jubbly

Hello Sugars.

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Yesterday!

Today, I've got swatches of three polishes from butter London's Fall Collection.
Bottle Pictures below.

They are called: Dodgy Barnett, Trustafarian, and Lovely Jubbly.

First up, is Dodgy Barnett
This is a silver holographic nail polish, and application was flawless. What you see below is three thin coats.

 So pretty looking!

Next is Trustafarian.
Well now, this is the kind of HOLO I love!

The Holo is In your face and it also dries to an awesome finish after topcoat was applied.

Lastly, I Have Lovely Jubbly.
Glitter, Holo sparkles, and Purple.
Enough said... right? lol...

I was almost tempted to layer this over another color, but I'm so glad I didn't.
It's perfection on the nails, and the sparkle is a lot more "WOW-ish" in person.

Overall thoughts:
I think these three polishes from Butter London's Fall Collection scream "I'm rich, look at my nails". Lol...
Honestly I love the holo, the glitter, and the fact that they are all so easy to apply. The holos do not create "bald spots" when applied in thin coats, and when you allow each layer to come an an almost dry before applying the next layer.

That's it for now sugars.

Love what you see? You can purchase these and lots more polishes by Butter London by Clicking HERE to go to their website.
Also, Check out Butter London on Facebook and Twitter.

Till Later, God Bless You.

These were sent for  review. Opinions are 100% mine.
