How are y'all doing today?
I have another review of stamping plates with y'all today.
I got this kit because of an "emergency". Lol.. If you're on my facebook page, you already know about this. If not, here's the short version of the story. I traveled this past weekend, and I forgot my nail polish equipment bag behind. Stamping plates, stamper, scrapper, rhinestones, brushes, filers, buffers, and even my Zoya Beach Collection that I was supposed to review this week was inside that bag.
The bag is heavy and having it shipped to me won't make sense. I was sad for a bit, but I feel better now. I'll go ahead and swatch the Surf Collection for now though, so expect that in the coming week or so.
Anyhoo, I felt naked without all my equipment, and I know you all understand me when I say, I "felt naked". Lol...
Well, since my XL plates are here with me, I ran to ROSS and picked up this Salon Express kit.
I decided to do this review of these plates immediately. Besides, these kits are just now appearing at ROSS, Walmart, CVS and some other places. Some people have been curious about them, so I'm reviewing to help clear out some questions. :-D
Here's what the front and back of the Kit Looks Like. Some people have reported having ones with double ended stampers. This one has only one sided stamper.

Next up: here's what you'll find inside the kit. 5 stamping plates. A plate holder, a stamper and a scrapper. This also included an "how to" manual. I didn't need that. lol..
Here are pictures of the images on these plates.
One of the 5 plates has "full images", while the other 4 images are just some cute and fun designs.
The plates came with a clear plastic on them. I used the scrapper to take these out easily.
The Plates have Salon Express written on the back.
- The plate holder that comes with this holds the plate nicely, but I still don't understand plate holders because I prefer to have my plates on tissue paper so I can scrape excess polish on the paper. You know?
- The Stamper is Ahh---Mazzzinnnggg!!! I didn't have to "file it" or use eraser on it, or do one of those "tricks to make it work". I cleaned it with acetone to take off some lint off it, and used it, and it was perfect! It also looks a bit bigger than my Konad Stamper. I wish my equipment bag was here so I could compare and confirm this side by side. I did however whip out my XL plate and the stamper picked up the image on the XL plate, leaving out only a tinsy winsy bit of the image behind. So yeah, I think SE stamper is bigger than the Konad one.
Here are some Images I stamped on paper. No problem with transfers.
Time for Image Comparison:
I found one of my BM plates in my polish drawer and was so happy because I could use it for comparison. I was just gonna go ahead and review without comparison since my other plates weren't here. But I was so glad to have found this BM plate lying around. lol... Here's a comparison of the full images on the SE plate with a BM plate. As you can see, the SE plates have no name or numbers on them.
The full Image on the SE is smaller than the BM.
So, sorry to those with big nail beds or long nails.
The good new here is that, the images on the SE full image plate are a bit "forgiving", and you should be able to double stamp and have a pretty decent design.
- The scrapper [I got] is not the best though. Sure enough, it scrapes, but Eesshhh, it could do a better job. After my First trial, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th... I decided to use an old gift card for my scrapping and that worked PERFECTLY well.
Here's a picture where I used with the scrapper in the SE kit. Yes, I know this looks kinda "good", but whenever I was ready to take a picture of the awful job the scrapper did, the stupid thing appeared to scrape well. Lol..
And here's a picture where I scraped with the old gift card. See... no polish left on the sides of the design at all. Everything went off...
I prefer the gift card method. I have concluded to using cards instead of scrappers. That stuffs works wonder and no scratch marks on my Plates..AWESOME!!!
Alright y'all. That's it.
Sorry I couldn't compare the full images with my other round plates, The BM plates gives you a good idea, and the smaller designs need no comparison. All of the images on it are relatively new to me, so I'm glad I have them. Look at that cute turtle again!!! So many fun images!!! XOXO, stars, hearts.. I love!!!
If you have any questions, please ask in the comment box, and I'll reply you. So make sure you subscribe to this post if you ask a question. I'd hate to answer and then you don't ever see it. :-)
I confessed on my facebook page that buying this kit meant that I violated one of the rules in the nail polish buying challenge. But I hope you forgive me. This was important.. Ya dig? ;-)
I have swatches coming up, and I like to always stamp or do some form of art on my nails. I won't be able to get my bag for another week or two, so this "purchase" had to be made.
I promise to be honest with you, so forgive me...:-D
Anyhoo....Do you own this kit? Are you gonna get it now? For $6.99 at ROSS, I'm glad that forgetting my equipment bag at home helped me buy something this lovely.
Till later my Loves. God bless.
